Cooking & Baking Tips

🥄 Measuring Dry Ingredients
For accuracy, spoon flour into measuring cups and level off with a knife. Don't pack unless specified. 1 cup of properly measured flour weighs about 125g.
🧈 Room Temperature Ingredients
Butter should be soft enough to leave a fingerprint but not melted. Eggs and dairy should be at room temperature for best mixing results.
🌡️ Oven Temperature
Always preheat your oven for at least 15-20 minutes. Use an oven thermometer to verify temperature - many ovens run hot or cold.
⚖️ Weighing vs Volume
For baking, weighing ingredients in grams is more accurate than volume measurements. Professional bakers always weigh their ingredients.
🧂 Salt Measurements
Table salt is finer than kosher salt. If substituting, use about 3/4 the amount of table salt when a recipe calls for kosher salt.
🥄 Substitutions
1 tbsp = 3 tsp, 1 cup = 16 tbsp = 48 tsp. For herbs: 1 tbsp fresh = 1 tsp dried. For garlic: 1 clove = 1/8 tsp powder.
